sixblueten (San Francisco, US)

I really love this fella. We don't always see eye to eye, but we can talk a whirl about most anything at all. If I could be anyone else in this world, it would most likely be him.

colourspace (Warwick, GB)

My first Polanoid friend, and therefore my best. And I totally have a crush on her passport photo . . . check it out! More importantly, her work with her 600SE makes me jealous that I don't use mine to anything resembling its potential. Her soft shots of her children are wonderful wonderful wonderful - lucky as she is to have such great looking kids (I'm sure they're horrible tyrants. .heh.) to photograph. OH - now she's also the first to officially trade Polas with me! Check out her PINK BUCKET photo. . .it's all mine (well, a print)! Just a plain old good person, that much is clear . . . so many good people on this site. . .what is it about the Polaroid?

UPDATE: A Mad "BAD IDEA" Villain!

centecente (Cremona, IT)

Very original manipulation work, one of the people who inspire me to possibly one day move away from straight shooting. He did influence me away. . .but I've yet to perfect a technique! Also, we seem to be working together on verybadidea.com, which is great. If I'm lucky I'll have to make an excuse to fly to Italy to work with him in person. . .any excuse to travel, mind you!

UPDATE: MY MAD 'BAD IDEA' PARTNER IN CRIME AND CO-BANDIT!

Leb (Berlin, DE)

New to the site . . one of the great action shots I've seen. . . can't wait to see more pictures.

stOOpidgErL (Detroit, US)

Though she'll think she guilted me into saying it, it's totally not true: One of my favorite people here on the site, hands and toes down.

Absolutely rocking artist with an unhealthy Vegas obsession, only in that Vegas can be a disastrously unhealthy place for those who are not prepared. But that doesn't say enough. Of everyone I "know" here, she has the attitude that I think smacks of success in the arts. Work ethic + skills + confidence = bingo - you're an art star. You wait and see, folks, this girl is going to get the hell out of Detroit!

UPDATE: A MAD "BAD IDEA" VILLAIN!

Urizen (Berlin, DE)

Totally top-notch Polander. . .when they put together another hyper-contemporary Polaroid All-Star book, this man best have his own chapter.

spitocco (, )

Added as my friend because I HATE the fact that he's so damned creative. Keep your enemies close, no? Heh. Incredible work. Inspiring work. More than that. . . ORIGINAL work, nothing derivative here. He'll be in the next big book of Polaroids . . the one that we're going to make here at Polanoid, right Doc? Self-published?

UPDATE: A MAD "BAD IDEA" VILLAIN!!!

certone (San Francisco, US)

Aside from being a member of the Analphabetology secret society, Certone is the only other SF-based Polanoider, to the best of my knowledge. Bay Area-ites must stick together!

UPDATE: A MAD 'BAD IDEA' VILLAIN!

bonnie (Ann Arbor, US)

One of the founding members of the famed Beautiful Asshole movement. She penned the manifesto, in fact. One of the sharpest knives in the drawer, takes great, inventive pix, and has, it would seem, a sense of the absurdity of it all (this, of course, implies a decent dollop of wisdom).

dash (Zwolle, )

Another solider who has volunteered for the BAD IDEA army. Also an absurdly talented photog/designer. . check her website listed on her profile if you're in her neck of the woods and looking to hire a designer.

UPDATE: A MAD 'BAD IDEA' VILLAIN!

WebMeister (Wien, AT)

Need I explain? This man has it ALL, does it all, and still maintains composure, talent and hilarity. I'm jealous, actually.

UPDATE: A MAD 'BAD IDEA' VILLAIN

carmendevos (Lochristi, BE)

Creative and hilarious, she's also down for the cause . . . the BAD IDEA cause, that is. . .which makes her aces in my book. That, and the fact that she is the first Polanoider to comment on my photos.

UPDATE: A MAD 'BAD IDEA' VILLAIN

artpunk (Melbourne, AU)

Totally helter-skelter and thoroughly off-kilter. . .in the best ways possible. Click and you'll see . . . you really will . . no, really!

LiA (Wien, AT)

First of all, she knows how to work this site to the max. . .I've no idea how she codes everything so smoothly. . .customization skills are a 10 of 10. The photos, you'll have to check out, but if I recall correctly, they were the first I saw when I hit the ground at Polanoid - more or less an extension of an able, intelligent and insightful person. All in all, as I think of it, it's a fairly aware group here - it may be that our SX-70s have a bit o' magic charm to them that allow us all to tap into that which others hasten to cover. Lia is mainlined, for certain.

defekto (Baltimore, US)

Oh, I'll comment plenty about this one. . . but not quite yet . . .just check out his page and flow through it via link to Flickr and you'll understand everything. . .

martamaulla (Barcelona, ES)

Best green car photos on the site, rivaling even those of now deleted founding member, "Archaeopteryx" whose underwater shots of the '76 Vega were compelling as hell. What's more, M&M is open to new ideas, music, books and the notion that not every U.S. citizen is a complete fucking retard.

candicetripp (Newcastle upon Tyne, GB)

Gotta love those who love the cheeky fuckers. Honestly, without such reciprocity the CF's of this world, well, we're DOOMED.

You really must take a look at her photos. The aviator shots are classics. . . in my top five all-time at this site, in fact. The fashion shots are flippin' great as well. One hell of a photog team, this candicetripp and her beau.

UPDATE: A MAD "BAD IDEA" VILLAIN!

OJBriggs (Philadelphia, US)

The REAL DEAL, ladies and gents. His talents go way beyond Pola-land. Check his videos, et cetera. One of my Polanoid heroes.

williac (Columbus, US)

Another mad 'BAD IDEAD' villain down for the cause! Also lucky enough to have secured a foxy oscillaroid. Check out the results. . .

louobedlam (Los Feliz, CA, US)

A madman from Flickr . . .and a pal of Defekto, LB was, due to a series of coincidences, responsible for hooking me up with my wedding photog - Defekto! It all started with me sending a Pola in to a Pola-trading site . . .and ended up with Lou and I meeting in a warehouse in Los Angeles where Lou had discovered (thanks to a friend who scouts props for films) the ACTUAL vehicle used in 'Buckaroo Banzai'. Of course, someone had commandeered the overthruster, but it was sheer magic to sit in the car and feel the power, imagine the possibilities and channel the good Doctor.

granthamilton (Iowa City, US)

This man is a bonafide classic Pola shooter. Every shot looks and feels so damned POLAROID it makes me sick, jealous, and sick of being jealous. A great eye has he. Or, rather eyes.

polabotix (Düsseldorf, DE)

Great pix, blah blah. . . more when I get to know the level of insanity. . . more later. .

David_S (Glasgow, GB)

Absolutely fascinating person, this David Underscore S. He reminds me that, were some of us to meet in the real world, we'd undoubtedly be able to put together some intriguing and successful projects. Clearly talented with photography of all types, he's on my 'top three Pola-folks I'd like to meet' list. The other two are

sealette (Edinburgh, GB)

My favorite thing about sealette, aside from the nice things she said about me in her 'my friends' space? her interests: the sea by the forest on the mountain, with the chip shop round the corner. I mean. . .how great is that? Pretty great. All the cool kids are in GB, it would seem.

OH AND TODAY she just flippin' blew my mind with a picture. . .go look. . it's a landscape (i know) BUT it's cracked and smeared and so amazing. ..maybe the pola i covet the most on this site, in fact as I'd blow it up on watercolor paper and sell it for a million dollars. . oh it is a thing of beauty.

Shlomo.Ben.Jussuf (Berlin, DE)

There's no befriending Norah w/out befriending SBJ. Another crazy one who went through all the shots . . . and one of the keener minds on the site. SBJ is a source of mischief and inspiration.

Norah.Goldenbogen (, )

Unbelievably, she went through every pic on the site. And, better yet, she taught me one of the best photo tricks I know. But I'm not telling you about it. Some of the better setup shots on the site - go see for yourself. Let's see if this entry gets saved this time. . .lost it last time. . . .

HOWEVER, she also predicted that my Pola-career has peaked. Gauntlet thrown, I've yet to decide how to responds. . . DAMN YOU NORAH!!!

Esther.Z.Schnickenacke (Muenchen, DE)

I can't believe I've been so remiss as to not add the amazing EZS to my pola-pals. No matter, error rectified as of this moment. Sneaky pics and superheroes mix in her gallery, as well as humor, pathos, cracked buttons and ground meat. Truly inspiring.

lars.blumen (Berlin, DE)

Can't believe it has taken so long for us to make our friendship official. One of the true powerhouses on Polanoid, and destined for greatness, Mr. Blumen's photos, attitude, and penmanship all impress me greatly.

polanoidswap (Hua Hin, TH)

My baby, my darling, my fun diversion. . .

kay (Wien, AT)

Great great great Polanoider. I'll have to pen something witty about Kay when I'm not in such a rush. Definitely one of the people I'll meet for breakfast when I embark on my "Polanoiders-Around-The-World" tour.

tuberoller (Chicago, US)

The man has done what I've dreamed of doing: converted 800s and 110As into working pack cameras. And his digital-back project is too fucking amazing to even imagine.

Antoine (Marseille, FR)

A bonafide professional photographer - despite his mastery with various 'real' cameras, the man has inspired me most of all with his Big Shot work. Not many Polanoiders understand the simple beauty (and difficulty) of working with this camera. It's not a 180/185/190, in fact everything about it is primitive and terrible - making it one of my favorites. It is a camera that never, ever lies! Antoine understands this completely - and he's funny as fuck, to boot!

demoforest (Albuquerque, US)

Only so many Polanoiders with whom I share a Pola-fetish and musical alignment. Great, great, great photos - oh and demo also happens to be project supervisor/coordinator for a group of particle physicists who are working on a bonafide invisibility cloak. No joke!

silvana (***, )

Somehow, so many of the great Polanoid people live in Italy. I don't know what it is. . .Polaroid is NOT an Italian company! Regardless, count Silvana among the 'grand Italian shooters' on this site! Time to have a big Pola party in Italy!

polkadots (Paris, FR)

Style points = two million five hundred thousand. Shot after shot of traipsing about places I've never known, and looking good with good looking friends. Travels, it would seem, with a muse/confidant/pola-master. All in all, some very riveting stuff.

birdclaws (Baltimore, US)

First person (besides Defekto of course) to get me really hopped up about the Spectra. I have three but really don't like them too much. However, V does incredible double exposure work with the Spectra. . .as well as beautiful straight shots. In fact, I got inspired enough today to pull my Spectra out of the closet. . .that says a lot considering I have so many faves with which to shoot.

drewbaker (Los Angeles, US)

First off, his profile pic (the shadow) is one of my all-time Pola-faves. Secondly, the man converts 100a cameras, something I've longed to do. Third - he's a helluva shooter. One of the tops. Fourth - he's in my soon-to-be new hood, Venice Beach so it's a lock he'll be attending the 2007 L.A. Polanoid Extravaganza.

robertpadilla (Chicago, US)

While the words winsom and lonesome are sometimes found tossed into the same sentence, they don't really mix. . .yet they do rather handomely in RP's pix. Louobedlam was talking about his inability to capture essence/emotion of non-living things. I suffer from this failure as well. . .and while the landscape photogs riddle the maps, it's quite hard to find someone who can capture scenery just so (Kipling anyone? okay, that's a stretch).

g. (Hamburg, DE)

I can't really comment on his pix, yet as there are but two to view (both of which are prime). However, 'g' is clearly a serious photo-phile who we're lucky to have among the polanoid crew. I'm predicting some jaw-dropping uploads from this guy in short order. He knows light like Houdini knew locks. Okay, that's an awkward phrase, but y'all must forgive me as I've had a rough morning!

_micaela (San Jose, US)

Sheesh. . .how can I have forgotten to add Micaela as a friend? Oooops! I owe her a drink at a gay biker club. . . .any suggestions anyone?

seventime (Atlanta, US)

A reciprocal friendship, yes - however, I have to hand it to any man who says "I'm willing to learn how to bake" AND describes a friend as "intensely Pola-sexy". Oh, and he's already chummed it up with Louobedlam, meaning he's likely a Blue Blaze Irregular. I've yet to check the BBI new member logs. . . .

uglykid (Pakkred, TH)

Gets mad credit for the 'stormtrooper on the street' shots. Also, it's just damned fine to have a Polapal from Thailand as it's one of my very favorite nations on this dying planet. I hope to visit again later this year!

toddy (London, GB)

Not certain why it is that so many of the great Polanoiders are from GB . . . it must be the reverence for all products made in the USA? Ahem. Great travel photos and keep an eye out for the pic of the naked man with the onions and the dog.

k_tenmiller (Pittsburgh, US)

Recently inducted into the Secret Society of Responsible Polaroiding as a sixth degree member. First time I've seen someone jump the first five. Impressive!

PEPITE (Lille, FR)

Smart enough to rock the Polaroids. Genius enough to pick up the 360 camera and start giving it a go. Elite company!

KimvanGroos (Glendale, CA, US)

No, she's not really my friend. She just guilted me into adding her.

FUCK! How did I overlook this? Bet you're not even going to nod at me in SF in July.

Sigh.

orezemit (Roswell, US)

In another incarnation, I was his trusty bowling implement. In this, simply a Polanoid-friend. A crazily gifted photographer who is friends with all the right people, Orezemit will be missed at the SF Pola gathering!

bastard.club (South Pole, AQ)

Matthew Kern (New York City, US)

Inspires me as much, if not more, than any photographer out there, Pola or otherwise. No joke, folks.

Stefano (, )

The lawgiver Moses forbade indulgence before battle.

traskblueribbon (Eugene, US)

The Man.

Seriously, folks. All I can say about this pal o' mine.

rumbling (Bentonville, ar, US)

I used to say something about each new friend add, but that's getting more difficult as I've mined my quarry of pithy comments. Hmm...seems maybe I've struck a glimmer, if one scans these dregs with an optimistic eye.

CecileA (Thonon-les-Bains, FR)

This is easier...something to say as we've actually met in person--in Paris, of all places. The facilitator and egregious one, Cecile is among my new Pola-heroes!

antouane (, )

It was Antouane's Paris flat that was the site of our finest Parisian meal....a spread of bread (never enough), cheese (never enough), hummus (spelled oddly in Paris), and beer (never enough). Best wallpaper in the universe award goes to Antouane, as well as Top Five Choco80 shots, tho' he denies it.
