You know, winning all these SOTDs so many years after the fact, it is breaking my heart a little. Knowing I took those pics so long ago...and we have all left... I miss this old place.

Wow sotd all these years later! That’s crazy... I miss this place. I miss the community we used to have... honestly I have a photography career due to the people I met here, and the support... polanoid will always have a special place in my heart. Even if it’s somewhat bittersweet winning sotd all these years later, meaning no one is posting new work here, it’s good to have a reminder of all of the love!

Hello y'all. Many of you know about this, and a number of you have backed my project, but I thought I should mention it here too… I am going on an adventure! Far, far away. And it involves Polaroids, lots of Polaroids.

The project is on Kickstarter and I hit the over 50% funding mark today. Still a couple of weeks left to run, so any help or sharing across social networks would be VERY much appreciated! Kickstarter is all or nothing, so it very nervewracking!

And to think back then I applied to the webmeister job! I remember the email I wrote about it - all guns blazing with enthusiasm. And now look where we are....

I have been a member of this site for a long time now... Much of my adult life and I feel like I have done so much growing up here. We mustn't let it die, it's too special a community. On good days it also challenges and pushes me. It's been an education and I hope it continues to be. I want it to be the place it was, where I would wake up and I would trawl through any pictures I had missed. What I love about this place is largely to do with its size, you can look at every picture posted on this site and learn about the people behind then, watch them change, babies grow up, break ups, marriages, changing influences. Even the people I have never net I feel like I know.

Ore- I read your message and I think we're on the same page. It's not always about posting, but about being home.

How sad. I may not upload very much any more, but this place has definitely changed my life. It led to the point where I gave up work to take Polaroids... And set me on the freelance struggle. I have also met some really wonderful people who have made my life so much better. Real life people, off screen, with blood pulsing through their veins - blood like mine. These people have become my family. This place is my safety net. Like coming home. A little corner of the Internet that has never closed the door on me and is comfortingly familiar. The saddest thing about the big bad world that we live in is that this is becoming more and more rare. We of all people should appreciate the rare and dying, after all that is why we are all here. We are all here for the 'real' and the relationship we so crave - photographically and personally. It seems ironic then that our destruction should come from within our own ranks and by people who started this site with far fewer members than there are now. What happened to the fight and the enthusiasm?
