2007-04-16 // 02:03:02 This shot should be SotD as soon as possible. It's just about perfect, in composition, color, whimsy. It's technically beautiful, but it's got soul, too.

2007-04-01 // 03:19:14 Tod Brilliant is an ether addict. This is a fact. Look it up. His opinions are the ramblings of a brain eaten away by what 18th century scientists believed to be the 5th state of matter.
That said, what he's saying makes a lot of sense. The fact that tree & foliage shots have won SotD more often than other types of shots speaks not to the shots themselves, but to the people who view the site. Those who vote here seem to have an odd predilection for tree shots, so that's what's gonna win more than anything else. which, i believe, was the same problem with the old system, that one point of view was being expressed more than any other. which is a problem, since SotD, ideally, represents the site. and since there are more than just tree & foliage shots on Polanoid, it would be appropriate(if i'm not wrong) that the SotD reflect that. The growth of Polanoid obviously results in changes in various aspects of the programming and operation of the site, and the SotD should be no exception. Since at this point the voting is skewed towards a particular genre of photo, it seems unfair to the others on the site. |
