I'm getting the swing of 669 film emulsion transfers. I lucked out and some watercolor paper that I've had around basicly forever works quite well for the purpose.

I'm pretty sure that the shutter on my Polaroid needs to be adjusted. I keep it at +2 and it still tends towards underexposure.

I did some live and in-the-field emulsion transfers. Not spectacular, but still interesting. I think I may just need to put a ND filter over the electronic eye to push the camera towards correct exposure, at least until I get up the nerve to adjust my Polaroid.

I brought my Automatic 100 and some 667 film to a flickrmeet on Thursday.

The second I pulled out the camera, everybody else grabs *their* camera to take a picture of me and my polaroid. Everybody told me how beautiful my polaroid camera is, with the bellows and everything.

And everybody was suitiably impressed that I was shooting 3000 asa film and therefore didn't need a flash.

I had some issues with getting correctly exposed pictures because of the confusing lighting and no fill flash, but I got some neat shots.

So!

I've already fulfilled my first mission. B&W Polaroid film looks just as good as any other B&W material.

I tested my new Automatic 100 on some expired 665 film. I like it already. Having manual focus is especially nice because I can compose the way I want to compose my images.

So, thoughts...

I have a few missions to undertake.

First, I'd like to show that there's absolutely nothing wrong with Polaroid film but that the main reason why everybody always thinks that Polaroids are so crummy is that they are seeing the deer-in-headlights look of 640ASA film through an f/11 lens with a big blast of flash because it's indoors and there's not enough light anyway.

The other big project is that I want to do emulsion transfers and lifts and screw with that. Because that's something that you can *only* do with Polaroid materials.

I just picked up my first Polaroid camera that's actually mine the other day.

I still have to hunt down film and batteries (one battery is dead, the other one is leaky) for it.

It's an Automatic 100.
