In any course of action it is not a good sign if a man starts with the determination to suceed in it, for that implies rivalry, pride, ambition. he should begin by loving the technique of any activity for its own sake, as one lives for the sake of living....Any one of us is capable of devoting himself to a work when he knows what he will get out of it; it is difficult to devote oneself gratuitously.
