I decided to see what happens if you bleach the negative immediately. Not a good idea, since goop probably needs a few minutes to settle. Anyway, in my haste I didn't fix the tape properly, so bleach leaked onto the positive side. I tried to wash it off, but was perhaps too successful; the sink rapidly turned green. All of the goop was removed, which resulted in quite a strange, almost neon-looking negative.
Bleached negative was displayed on Sunpak slide viewer and photographed with a DSLR. Image was inverted in photoshop, auto-levels applied and brightness increased slightly.
