First try at this shot, and it's the one I prefer. This one is so damned Hopper-esque it kills me. Doesn't look like a photo, even when I hold it right up to my eyeballs and squint real hard (I don't look too good when I do this, as you can really see the wrinkles on my massive fivehead when I'm scrutinizing something at close range.)
Early morning hours in Paris, I spent walking around looking for some good night shots. It was cold, yes, but also more than a little refreshing.
While setting up for this shot, I met a young couple. She was from the states, but living in Paris for some years. He, too (Maine?), but had just returned from a stint in various third world nations where he worked (I'm guessing as he didn't outright say it) with an org like Doctors Without Borders. Real cool couple and I'm disappointed they didn't show up a few nights later at an opening of their pal's wine shop. Would have loved to have talked more and found out whether he was a benevolent doctor-type or a shady U.S. operative. Heh.
