I must confess, one of my overriding thoughts that day was that I just had to "get through it", almost as if it was some nasty medical procedure and I wanted to get it over with. So as soon as I arrived, I was already longing for the moment I could leave again.

Being continually aware of an urge to escape compels you to compare your own groundless unease with the horror and fear new arrivals must have felt on entering these gates.
