In 1942, Andre is 16 years old and was living in Tunis, Tunisia.
One day, on his way to school, an italian soldier warned him that his best friend just has been caught by German soldiers and shot down for "acte de résistance".
Germans were now looking for him ; so he fled trough the desert. British troops took in him, as he lied about his age and was able to join the RAF. After one year of training in Tunisia, he was sent to Elvington UK as a air gunner on a Handley Page Halifax in the 346 Squadron, one of the two exclusively french aircrews.
He threw bombs upon Germany as well France.
Half of them never came back from battles missions..
At the third meeting, he told me that he was scared to death from the first to the last second of his flights.
He remains antimilitarist.
