into the woods
“Reading about nature is fine, but if a person walks in the woods and listens carefully, he can learn more than what is in books, for they speak with the voice of God.”
George Washington Carver
When I went to the park, it was starting to get dark and very cold (around 37F) and I was not wearing gloves (which explains the shakiness). This tree grouping had its own canopy of shade which explains why the snapshot came in so dark (I tried to shoot the same area with Penny but it was too dark for her to take pictures).
I tried to concentrate on the shaded forest floor and skip the outer part of the area where the trees met the afternoon light. Then I took another shot with both areas in it to establish the contrast. Initially I thought of posting them as a diptych but I like this shot so much I had to go with it alone. I'll post the second one later.
