which would be the easy way to look at it, that this is what is supposed to happen, this is what happens to everybody, and it's a part of life.

until it's your father you watch die, and in the moments after you realize that you are that much closer to being an orphan, that someone who has been involved in your life for every single day of your life is now gone. that the most constant of constant, your parent, will never be seen again. that you will lose your other parent, someday. and perhaps others you love. that there are no constants, that there is nothing you can rely on, count on.
