Through ‘Desire’ I have explored one of the most raw elements of the woman. It is her sensuality, which to me is a divine energy she so uniquely possesses. I have drawn upon some of the most classic Italian Masters of the early to mid Renaissance, where I feel the approach to light and composition is of such simple beauty, even though it is so carefully crafted, that it enhances a strong emotional response. This body of work, which I have been exploring for the past year, touches on many aspects of my perception and passion for sensuality where I have maintained my method of communicating this as suggestively as possible. It is subtlety which carries the emotion I intend to portray, even though the images may be strong and seemingly obvious upon a quick interpretation of the subject, it is through careful observation that the emotion is felt. This is sensuality, it is not seen at first glance, rather it is from a much deeper place where only our hearts can see. To capture this photographically, I decided to apply a dye transfer technique, typically known as a Polaroid image Transfer, which I have been experimenting with for the past few years. This process is particularly unique in its application as a photographic medium, it is a slow and tedious method which needs careful attention in both crafting the image and the preparation prior to shooting.
