from the beginning to the end

*this is an old photo that I took from yet another series i am in the midst of working on. this particular shot will be included in A BOOK ABOUT DEATH.

for as long as i can remember, i have had a strong fascination with death and how innocent it is, so unstoppable and inevitable. humans are, for the most part, remembered by someone, documented somewhere, traces left behind in some way, some how. creatures are left to be forgotten, disintegrating into the ground. my goal with this series is to capture the lost lives that i come across in an effort to help them to never be forgotten, documented and remembered, forever. because, little bird, your life was meaningful to others and to me.

The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers, and cities; but to know someone here and there who thinks and feels with us, and though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.
-- Goethe

All life is meaningful, even the most diminutive creatures.
