With Filippo's (centecente) patient guidance I feel I am beginning to get the hang of this...but I fear I still press too hard at times! Practice, practice, practice (and thanks Filippo!) I need a bright day to capture some light, bright colours as well, to try with less dark in the shot...

Using the hairdryer technique (advice kindly given by Filippo) to warm the pola then using some rounded tools and the (sharper) edge of a plastic knife to manipulate.
