His Wife's Piano
John Homer Bothwell's wife died only 2 years after they were married. Her death was due to complications of pregnancy. Neither mother or child survived. John never remarried. His wife played the piano. After she died he missed the music and so he purchased a player/box that could sit in front of the piano. This way he could pump the pedals to make music on his wife's piano, even though he could not read a note.
