City redevelopment
A view from one of the windows in my new office of a small part of some big building work going on in the area; a small City of London street, dating from the 1990s (not hundreds of years as I previously thought), winds underneath the construction works. The office block I am in and the street we are viewing are both on the site of the track of the former L C & D R line from Blackfriars through Snow Hill tunnel northwards to Farringdon and the Midland and Great Northern Railways. My own office room is probably roughly at track level - very interesting for a railway enthusiast. The small street can therefore only have been in existence since the demolition of the railway lines in 1989/1990
