always ask people before you take a photo in their shop. Sometimes they get really pissed off. Although once I asked a guy in a shop in the East Village if I could take a pic of the Elephant Man mask they had and he said no and I wished I'd just slyly taken it with no flash. It was made of rubber and really realistic. He probably thought I was from 'disability now' magazine and wanting to expose them as offensive gits.
