Coral - 18 years later still intact!
This piece of coral has travelled thousands of miles. I found it diving when I was seven. My first time with tanks- we were in Brasil. I remember seeing a moray eel and rushing up to fast and my Dad thought I had got the bends. I'd been grabbing this off the reef.
When my grandma came to visit in 1993, I gave it to her and it sat in her lounge in a glass cabinet until she sold her house and all her stuff. Now it's sitting on my table and I see it every day.
I am such a hoarder these days, and its funny to think that as a kid this was one of my prized possessions. I had found it, I dove and got it. I was so proud of it. Now its just one of so many things that surrounds me but when I see it, it makes me smile... and makes me think of a time I was free of all these constricting belongings, and when life was simple.
