ten polaroids taken in latvija during the last years, in the entry hall of the kr. barona muzejs, short before the opening.
the barona museum is located in an old flat, where krisjanis barons lived in for the last four years of his life.
the museum is run mostly by the spirit of family and friends, and even though kr. barons role for latvija is a most important, the dainas depository is a part of the global culture treasures included in memory of the world international register of unesco, and his portrait even appears as the only human face on a latvian banknote (though i guess most people even don't see a 100 Ls note often), the future of the museum is uncertain.
a few hundred people were there that evening, sharing memories and history, singing and dancing, looking forward. childs, and old people. but i've not seen one old person, which appeared as old as i know from the country i grew up in.
ruta (the head of the museum) said: but if you don't make plans.. even if it's unlikely to realize.. there is no hope.

portraits of the family, most gorgeous ones even, are on the backside of the frames. i just flipped them over. in certain situations, you just have to improvise :-)
