push drying chemical pad

Another trick that seems to help prevent the shifting of the PX-70 Push Film.

Cutting open the chemical pod.

It seems that the chemicals remain wet for days, maybe weeks in there. I noticed this [on the bottom right photo], after seeing it start to shift all the highlights to acid blue.

So I've started cutting open the chemical pods on all my PX-70 Push shots and they seem to dry-out without doing dramatic blue shifting. You do not have to cut OFF the chemical pad, just the soft paper layer on the back.

The photo where I removed the edges and cut the back is the driest of them all (obviously) but I think the contrast had also improved from when I first shot it.

The other shots that I've cut open have shifted very slightly, but are getting stiff and pretty much dry.

I realize that it's hard to compare outdoor shots to the indoor shots, but I do notice a significant change in the one I did NOT cut open.

Hope this can help some.
