Seven Views of Dachau - 7
What you can never quite imagine is that a place marked by evil can have any sort of beauty. You imagine bitter cold, rain, grey skies and drab wasteland. I find this is a hard image to rid yourself of unless you have visited the place. In reality, the town of Dachau is pretty and pleasant. The area is green and fertile. Back then, there will have been beautiful sunny days with bright blue Bavarian skies, insects humming, birds singing in the trees. And for some reason, that is harder to grasp than all the rest.
