Mirror Effect

Impossible 8x10 + Polaroid 804

Impossible is not flipped - hence, the mirror effect.

I'm liking the left/right reversal of the Impossible film. Something I thought I wouldn't like initially.

Tip:

Light for both was one 650w tungsten spot + a silver reflector.

I wanted to see just how close I could get with my camera so I stretched the bellows out all the way - about 28 inches (70cm). Used doll #5 for test focusing & then cut a wooden rod to fit between one of her eyes & the front of the camera. That way I could remove her & place the rod between my eye & the camera to get focus. Well, it sort of worked.

I shot the Impossible film at 1/2" at f45.5 (ISO 800), but it was almost black. I simply didn't compensate enough for all that bellows extension. I opened up to f22.5 & took another. Obviously I've missed the focus a bit & shooting at 1/2 second is too long for me to sit still. I still like it though. It has the film still quality I like.

Next I decided to compare it to some 804. To make up for the film speed difference (~800 v 100 ISO) I shot the 804 at 1" @ f16.

Framing was just guessing by looking at my reflection in the lens. I was about 22" from the lens.
