2006-07-29 // 15:55:24 catartica i would never be able to live in the u.s. .
i mean, how can you live without communist people around?:D it's something i'm not used to, it sounds impossible to me:D
did you read the translation of the song? i hope you liked it. i thought there was a concert of u munacidde yesterday, but i misread, it will be on august 28th, not july:)
the good thing is that i found a book about the socialist fights of my town. i can't wait to read it!:D

Yes, how can I live in a country as hostile towards communism and socialism...? Maybe I enjoy being the odd one out? Perhaps I felt stifled by the nepotism and stagnancy of socialist and communist organizations in Vienna? I'm not going to lie, though, living in the United States and paying taxes which are used for so many things I do not approve of (waging wars, making gasoline so cheap at the pumps compared to other countries, subsidizing the wealth of big corporations, and worst of all, them not funding enough of the welfare of the less fortunate) is impossible to get used to. Ultimately that might prompt my return to Europe. As an anarchist I find every nation state about equally intolerable in principle, though ;-)

And yes I read and enjoyed the translation...wrote more about that into your guestbook!
2006-07-28 // 19:19:55 catartica earlier today i went to my town's wood and i found a place that looks so much like the one of this photo! i thought about you:)

Aw! Well you know the next time I belt out a workers' song I'll be thinking of you :-) It's a shame that I'm surrounded by comparatively apolitical Americans who are still suffering from those anti-left-wing scare tactics of past 20th century industrialism and political conservatism. Which is certainly not preventing me from singing socialist and communist songs in public, but I got noone to sing them with, sadly.

That greater area of North and West Texas features some remarkable landscapes to explore. Some of it can hold its own against the beautiful parts of New Mexico or Arizona even, I find.
