The lips tempt but the eyes confront and challenge. There's a suggestion of a hurt personality, seeking sensitivity, love, sensuality, but uncertain of her ability to commit, to give her emotions free reign. This steely gaze, platinum hair, pale skin, and red voluptuous lips, declare a confident sexuality - but its a mask, and the eyes betray the guise. Therein lies a much more complex chain of emotions. I like this pic!

Photomass, thanks so much....too many words on my part might destroy what you said, so only a thanks from my side :-)

I find this photo incredibly inspiring, it is rather like the idea in my mind of how I wish to do my own self-portrait.
I wonder if you mind answering if you used flash for this shot?

i think this is still you..
makeup only gives a person i thik a different emotion.. if this makes sense?
red lip cover to me is confident nad sexy, independent, hmmm black eye shaddow, confident, independent and strong, deep..
hmm maybe this isn't making the sense i want it too ..
hehe hmmm.. but i think that it is only for difffernt emotions. . how a person wakes up and feels like..
it is like clothes too... you wake up and you choose what you feel like wearign but this isn't hidding..
hidding is if you jump into your cuboard and not leave a note :D heehe

the wig is just an other feling and emotion.. maybe personallity.. it maybe can help a person do what they need to do on that day.. maybe this is the same as people with curly hair straightening it.. or stright hair curlyign their hair..

is this making sense? hehe

by and by..
i really love this shot..
so close with the intense of your eyes..
eyes say a lot about a person :D

I saw once some original Polaroids from Andy Warhol, your portrait reminds me on his.
I think I am taking much selfportraits just because I am the only person 24 hours avaliable for my ideas and makeup is ofentlx not hiding, but showing the inner self hiding the outer self in my opinion (hard for me to describe in english)

Why did you ask us if we see in your self portrait?
May I see you looking at a portrait?
May be taking one portrait I can see you.
To see someone you have to know him, sight is the most dangerous and useless sense.

Perchè chiedi se ti vediamo o cosa vediamo di te nel tuo autoscatto?
Posso vederti guardando un tuo ritratto?
Forse solo nell'atto dello scatto fotografico posso vedere chi ritraggo.
Per vedere=fotografare qualcuno prima si deve conoscerlo.
Temo la vista, senso pericoloso e cieco.

E allora? Perchè questa nostra necessità di dare vita a delle fotografie?

So? Why this our necessity to create Photos?

how the hell do you get thirteen comments? oops. . now it's fourteen! as nick cave sang, "In a certain angle, in a certain light. . ." Seriously, the eyes. . great and perfect focus on eyes that are too dilated in a light so bright. . .back to my drug dealer inferences, you see. . . :)

Why? Because we're asking for judgement. You know this already.

I love how this photograph hasn't been taken the usual way people take Polaroids (with the white bit at the bottom). I'm surprised that I haven't seen a Polaroid like this. I like it. Not for your description (however, I do like the description, don't get me wrong) but purely for the way it's been taken.

presently i don't take selfportraits, but i did that to accept my face. when i was young and especially a teenager, pictures of myself by another person was so painful, now it's fine.
on your portrait, iespecially like the way the wig let the eyes go to your mouth.

Your eyes are so clear, straight forward, intense. If you had sunglasses on in the pic I would say you looked like you were hiding or disguised. But I feel I am looking at you here, through your eyes. They are beautiful.

Thanks so very much. Yes, I do see your point. Thanks for sharing!

wigs, make-up, masks... they're all wonderful tools as well as fashion accessories. It is a part of you if you're the one choosing to don them. GREAT POLAROID.

I even prefer having those things on my subjects, let alone myself.

^
You do?
Yes, I see your point. I somertimes love rawness, though, even if staged and posed. I am very open and varied when it comes to any kind of portraying, myself or, as I do more often, others. So I love big set-ups as well as spontaneous raw moments.

i think it's ironic that you added the comment "as always the original looks so wonderful and digitalising just kills it all"... in an image where you are challenging the ideas of identity... i think you can't hide behind a wig or make-up... the expression, the eyes, the passion that comes across in the integrity of your intensions... you reveal so much of yourself just in that alone... not to mention, that those two big soul-windows that speak so much about you... the wig, the make-up--i almost can't see them... this is beautiful... you are beautiful...

As always..thank you so much. I do think make-up and wigs can make it either more difficult or easier to approach someone, they can support or be in the way, but in the end it is "you" under it, no matter what you do. Tears wash away any make up and wigs fall off as soon as you cannot bear the itching anymore..
