A new upload by Kuroneko (similar scene, Hong Kong) brought me back here tonight. I am struck once more by the windows across the street. Squares of warmth on a snowy evening.

^ and i for the first time saw something very special, a special timeless warmth: the shadows in the bus. left polar, the cat, right kanarin. nose to nose. (and on kanarin's back, most probably the little dalecarlian horse) (everytime i look at this, i still love it a lot, and it always reminds me i should scan it again. same atmosphere, but more detail. grain. no pixels.) [hehe. saw your first comment. can't guarantee for the conté crayon though..] |

i love the vintage look of this shot. if the bus were a horse & buggy it would look very 19th century...still does in a way.

^ that's RIGA. got big during art nouveau. was a melting point of art and artists that time, very international (quiet unknown today). still, you can smell lot of it's history, full of old buildings. I just love the streets of RIGA. |

a really good picture. but... it's not an ordinary bus... it's a trolleybus :o) we still have them in some cities in poland also. it's a good fun to travel on them, specially when the thing jumps out of the wire....

^ i know i know! just didn't want to overburden people ;-) you know what? they also have streetcars! and one very old one which you can rent for birthdays or whatever. my friends made a good party on that (latvians really like to sing!) and the driver liked it so much he made some extrarounds :-) never had the fun of jumping out of the wire...but saw a bus once where the driver decided better to hit the house on the right then to drive under the falling down top floor of a house after a gas explosion... |
