the thing with anime... is that it has a very traditional root (hokusai...etc) - that is what attracts me about it. the mix of old and new in a very differnt way. I'm not an anime freak but the ideas and styles behind it draw me in.

this, as you said, does have that mix of acient yet modern.... and i think I had the idea of tattoos becuase at the moment everyone seems to be getting trible tattoos... which again have a very modern yet acient feel about them. inertesting, no?

kilmt... hmmmm. one of my favourite artists!

go with the flow lia, maybe your style is just evolving... it will be interesting to see what happens next! and we don't always have to produce work to our own tastes ;) or to others for that matter!

wow was my first impression

I love the colours and the use of the marker pen, it has an aboriginal feel about it. Almost like a tattoo!
I like how the two polaroids flow into each other by your hair... and the intensity in your eyes!
it's simple, but extremely effective.
I must say Lia, this is definatly one of my favourites out of all your work!

I like the reference to anime in the related tags... it has got a feel of it. I'm researching anime at the moment for a project.... I'm slowly falling in love - always loved anything from the far east.

How much are you thinking of selling it for?

^ Hey beautiful, I enjoy your words alot especially since "aboriginal" (not the Australians ;-)) and "home" and "roots" and the question of heritage and "belonging" all belong together and I even thought about naming it "heritage" or "aboriginal" but wanted a free title, thus Roots seemed perfect. I am glad you see the relation. Also, yes, Anime is not my thing, not at all actually, but I feel myself influenced by it. I don't even like this image in general, nor the drawingstyle, but I find myself working with this mixture of modern comic yet "ancient" jugendstil-style (klimt) again and again..no idea. But I don't feel like blocking that part, either, though it is weird to draw and create something that is not really your taste lol The "tattoo" comment of course swings in as well, again wonderful to relate to the topic I am dealing with here. Your input is greatly appreciated, thank you!! :-D
