Thanks for the link, that's an interesting read (particulary the last part about the lack of respect for the profession). I guess you already own the book "Instant Light - Tarkovsky Polaroids" (2004, reprinted in 2006), if not it's well worth checking out. Myself I hold Sven Nykvists work from "Offret" as a class of it's own. There's this one scene where Otto (Allan Edwall) turns on a lamp in a cold and kind of hostile room and all that changes for a moment or two from the warm light - until Alexander (Erland Josephson) turns it off again. That scene right there was the one that made me go into film studies.

Beautiful and dreamy, what a nice tribute to my fav director. This makes me want to watch Nostalghia again and again!

Nostalghia is one of my fav movies, and Tarkovskij a great master indeed... I had the chance to meet his cinematographer, Giuseppe Lanci, seven years ago; it was an awesome experience !
