this is a fabulous shot --- the antithesis of "the phoenix rising" --- it's the fall... the hard, hard fall. But this image is not negative to me. The phoenix may have fallen but it was not in vain. It was with the greatest respect and virtue. This image for me represents the unsung heroes, the champions of the domestic who succeed with the average tasks which we all have to go through to make living happen. In all of it we are champions of some sort and shape. This fallen gull, wings spread in welcome to the earth, a raised chin (beak) with a slight smile in the eye says to me --- I have completed my work, here. I am done. Earth I am yours. Take me. I no longer have to fight gravity. I no longer have to. Support me in your task now. I release myself to you.
