*sweep*

11 months later it's my turn to sit in a new apartment with a view that doesn't feel like mine. I hope that I will not get accustomed to it for a quite a while - I'd much rather preserve the old attic view and leave the town with that.

r&s left a match near the top, next to the school bus. I think it's still burning. Very irresponsible to leave burning objects near the bearers of Our future, don't you think?

*sweep*

oh, please leave the sweeping, and come up for some tea now, won't you? if the children are anything like me at that age, they are harmless pyromaniacs anyway!

ah--almost exactly one year later for me in this "new" apartment, and i just bought curtains for this window. strange, now, to remember how strange the view was to me, then. this place does not feel like the home i left, with the cherry tree under the window, so i understand how you feel.... but, i do have a white teapot with a bird roosting on the lid and crisp linen curtains and warm tea to share. :)

I love that the cab has flowers painted all over, bringing the rural to the urban in an urban fashion!
^

i love that comment! i had been out of town, so it was a shock to see the cabs in bloom, but then i really liked seeing groups of them clogged in traffic! the flowers are gone now, just in time for spring....

fantastic graphic picture!!

thank you! the light seemed to make everything flat and graphic and small, like a poster for a toy-sized city!

I've been here and I'm still not exactly sure why the cabs are in bloom, as you so nicely put it. I think it has something to do with charity. I originally thought it was one cab driver making his own personal aesthetic statement, until I realized I couldn't possibly be seeing him over and over all around Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Kind of nice. I was trapped in this ghastly midtown office building last Friday. But looking down at the avenue from the 21st floor (an out/the/window view similar to this) I saw a happy procession of hippie cabs with gypsy skirts dancing through grim midtown traffic.

oh--nice image! i thought the same thing--and then i got worried--how are they going to get the flowers off the taxis??! then a nice article on the gothamist website explained it all to me, and, also, i realized i wasn't in charge of that anyway, so i was free to worry about other things. :)

The suddenly strangely ubiquitous flower taxi!

A very strong out/the/window set you have up here. Brrravo.

so strange to be out of the city for a few weeks, and not know why the taxis are in bloom, or why robert de niro is on a banner saying "welcome, and thanks for visiting our city" instead of: "are you talkin' to ME? are YOU talkin' to me? " thank you, pear, for the nice comment!
