this picture is my favorite too.

^ Pear had a wonderful idea, which was to have the voting mechanism removed from his page. I followed suit with a request to our departed WM. Why? Well, I don't know Pear's motivation but it likely mirrors to an extent my notion that the SOTD madness can be a bit distracting. I still vote on beautiful shots, but I just want folks to take a peek and I'd rather garner feedback/comments than 'votes'. I didn't express that quite right but I've just cracked my eyes to the world and I'm a bit foggy yet.
