yeah i know the feeling. i've got lots of 2000 stock too. about half of them give effects like this (although maybe paler) and the other half are quite nice and true, with random nice effects. but i know exactly what you mean - the middle is dark and separates the outer thirds in a very strange way. see this for example:

how old was the film - super cool effect.

^ thanks mate! the film expired in 2000 and i suspect was stored horribly. as it develops, there's a big skunk-like line in the middle (you can see it a bit in the photo) and it looks like only the middle third of the film will develop but eventually the other sides catch up!
