Wow. Like an Ozu film. This could actually *be* a still from a made-up Ozu film called "Goodbye Osaka, Hello Nagasaki" (1960).

The man on the right is fantastic. I assume he is reaching for a cudgel to break your camera & head with, because he is not happy about being photographed in public.

Lovely train journey scene. (I like how you can "hear" this photograph.) Yes, so good. Votes for this and the equally excellent Umeda. I think that you, choco80 film, and Japan go together very, very well.

Thanks for the comment pear, i love ozu. Do you think it's evil to take photos of strangers and upload them to the internet? I do (usually), but i really couldn't resist this scene. I took it with the camera in my lap, staring intently down at it as if trying to figure out how it worked. No-one was any the wiser. Unless these people have polanoid accounts, i suppose, and i have a feeling the gentleman on the right probably does.
