Great idea! Shame it didn't work out.... With 10 in sync you could make a 360 portrait taker?......
^
Thanks gliesh.
Yeah, I thought about many variations of this. Triptych cams. Panorama up to 360 degrees. Portrait cams surrounding the subject. Got to be expensive and very frustrating. I will revive the project on a smaller scale though. I'n just not sure what I want the result to be at this time.

What a great (and crazy) project.

That great sound ... and some testing of your great setup .... maybe you'll "show" us in the "MOVIES"-section
:-)

this is really worth the project title!

Thanks for the sentiment. My personal project with this array was fruitless, but not without passion.

no i was not paranoid
;-)
just kidding

... now I understand better your idea
quite expensive protraits, indeed
but that's one of my favourite sports : trying to pervert the normal use of a camera device. i'm not technical enough, though, so I spend a lot of time with not much result, but I enjoy it
it's better anyway than loosing time surfing with no direction on the net, ain't it ?

^
Glad that made sense. Wish I could figure out a way to do it. I've had several other equally difficult ideas & really need to pick one and give it a try.

I spend a lot of time with not such good results too Zvevi. Just look here... »link

And yes, it's better than surfing with no direction. I just keep coming back here!

Sounds like your filming is going to be fun. As always I'll be looking forward to 'on the set' updates.

am I a fanatic ? No
am I obsessed ? Not at all
am I being compulsive ? What makes you think that ?
am I affraid of future ? Absolutly not
am I spending money that should be spent more efficiently ? my mother says so, so I do not believe I am
am I having strange ideas based on polaroid ?.... When I see this shot, I think I'm not the only one.

(btw, how about being in complete darkness, and using a flashgun ?... but the thing is : with two cameras, you can get 3D vision. But with 25 ? you'll get 25 almost identical shots... What were you looking for, exactly ?

^
Oh no! I've made Zvevi paranoid?

No, he's just polanoid. And passionate.

Just yesterday I purchased 50 twin packs of 669 (the UV version) so I'm starting to stock up a bit myself. When the price is good.

This is the stripped down version of the array. After I'd removed all of the wiring and before I ever had a reason to attach all of my custom close-up, wide-angle or telephoto lenses.

This was intended to be a portrait camera. I was going to light my subjects with studio lights, triggered from just one of the SX-70s, and have them rather close to the cameras on a comfortable seat. I'd then attach the supplemental lenses and carefully frame each camera creating a mosaic of sorts. None of them would have looked too much like another. I saw it all so clearly in my head.

I tried.
I cried.

Maybe one day I'll try again.

is there really a gold sx70? i am amazed, it sounds like a white whale.
^

Yes. You can see a better picture here - »link
or just google gold sx-70 for more.
^
I just checked the link and realized it includes a very non-SX-70 sound when the page opens. Sounds more like a cheap 35mm motor drive. How lame.

this is genius!

Well, perhaps, but in retrospect I'd rather have spent that money on Time-Zero film. It took quite a while (and money - notice the gold one in the center) to amass that many working SX-70's, and in the end all I had was frustration, and cameras - and very little film. When you become consumed with a 'vision' common sense sometimes goes out the window.

Ha Ha brilliant, I had a similar idea but using the far more affordable Fuji Instax 100 camera models, may still try to get it to work one day. Great shot, Hurrah VF
^
Thanks V-F.

The idea may have brilliant but the execution fell far short of that. I'd like to hear more about your idea with the Instax cameras. I have one but use it very little. That may change in coming years though.
I can say that I don't regret attempting this project. If you don't try you never know.

Is it just me or has the passion for Polaroid been heightened since the fatal announcement? Or is it just Frederic? ;-) Personally, I'm optimistic that someone will pick the ball up and give it a go.

Hurrah to you V-F,

mmm yup
there are varying levels of fanatacism and if i had the means i would certainly try and match zvevi's stash of film. and then make displays of cameras like this! i thought having 3 working sx70s was pushing it!

wow....

yours and zvevi's collections of cameras and film makes me physically sick. in the nicest possible way.

^
Thanks Dan. I'm more envious of Zvevi's film stash. I suppose we're both a bit fanatical though. In the nicest possible way of course.
