i wouldn't say the umbrella was fat. no, no. well proportioned rather.
i _love_ the proportions in this picture.

(is it raining in new york today?)

^

i've given the umbrella your phone number; he'll call you later. is that okay?

no-- it's beautiful here today! i am meeting a friend at the Mapplethorpe polaroid exhibit at the Whitney!

i hope it's beautiful where you are, dear. every time i see your profile pic in thumbnail, i think of birds flying. lovely poetry.

the man is waiting to buy tickets for sunnier days, I bet he had a blue shy shining in the inside of his umbrella...
^

Amandine, this is poetry! thank you so much-- it adds so much to the pola, for me. i would post something every day if you would write such lines. now, i wish i would have asked if i could take a peek under that umbrella...

again, sounding like a broken record, this is wonderful. I've been missing your pics so much. This one is definitely my favourite. The fusion of a lonely soul with the city.
^

thanks very much for that, m., i really appreciate it. i've been missing everyone's polas--still trying to catch up...so many treasures. so happy we can share them here.
city life can feel so lonely, can't it?

i just came in from the outside where it is miserable and rainy and all of london is in a bad mood. i dont know how you've done it, but seeing this rainy pic made me smile. this guy, what's he waiting for?! you're on the wrong side buddy! i hope you told him.
^
it's been so rainy and dreadful here, except for these past few days--i have to go outside soon, or i'm gonna start screaming!
it was sad--there is a street fair in my neighborhood every May, and it was a total washout this year. this guy was standing there, reminding me of alfred hitchcock--i'm not sure what he was waiting for--but i asked to take his picture, and was so surprised when he said yes! then i told him: "hey buddy, you're on the wrong side!" and he said, "you are the one without an umbrella and looking like a drowned cat!"
and that was that.

I know what you're going through, but let us not speak of this border tragedy. Let the remains rest in peace, to keep you from getting chills.

Is this the sailor (»link) waiting for his downtown ship/ferry?. I can imagine how the man is looking in his coat pockets for the obolus-coins that will pay for the ferry ride.

I think this pola is my new all time favorite of yours (you keep bringing new ones for each upload) because of all the possible stories it could tell. Wonderful, M, truly wonderful.

^
oh j., how lovely. and i have to tell you that finding your messages in the favlinks box is like receiving a surprise bottle mail--they are wonderful and make me laugh so hard!

but this is not the sailor. the sailor never takes off his peacoat, and never carries an umbrella. the rain on his face reminds him of time spent at sea.

Gasp! Where's the borders?!

(Very happy to see uploads from you again - I've missed your blue!)

^

an unspeakable border tragedy occurred! to this day, it gives me chills to think about it.

(oh, thank you, j.--that blue is irritating me a bit...i don't think this is so blue in person...i'm going to blame it on the bastard scanner at kinko's.)
