Still speechless. Masterful craft and vision. And the tip ("a tool ... just important to know how to use it") is a thoughtful, intelligent, and pressingly relevant musing on the process by which we convert these haptic images into a more shareable format. Something will always be lost from the original, certainly; but with care, attention to detail, and knowledge, the losses are minimized, and the beauty and emotional immediacy of originals can be preserved. This I have learned working with you.

thank you, stefan. this reallly touches me. i remember when you looked through all my polas in Riga before i even had made a choice for the exhibition and asked you, and? do they look different? and you said, no, no! this is exactly how i remember them.
remembering. impressions. memories.
the older i get, the more i realize what a wonderful teacher i had while studying documentary film. because the moment you take a camera in your hand, you _change_ the reality. and it's up to you, to get, with that change, as close to the initial impression again. same with scanning. you switch the medium. perception. and have to get back. or you loose, what was. and is.
because if it wouldn't have any relevance (what kind ever) to the now anymore, there would be no need and urge to do so.
2008-06-17 // 23:47:01 inkaust this one is especially hard to write about. not only because of my highlanders' calves being so visible here.
it's just so special.
^
it is.
not only because of your calves. could make polaroids of them for days.
but that's another topic.
just so special.

more books here...a diary of travel, a book of poems, a photo album with notes on the margins...

dear. just an inbetween: even if i don't reply to comments much right now, i absolutely adore what you write. words i haven't found to images i took, nodding my head reading them, knowing not what to say. being thankful and feeling glad it matches in someone else' head. thank you.
(ps - we need to find another attic, right? oh. btw. the attic had a special place in my exhibition. just a few recognized. but i liked it like that. was important. you will see. too much to scan. sort. decide. sigh. ah, will just show you before, in the attic :-) )
