Whoops, you've replied 4 times to my previous comment ;)

Well somebody has already printed a photo with a normal printer on a Zink paper. Check the submissions, it had a blue-ish face of a kid on it.

I don't have time either to do any more experiments I'm afraid. I've got an exam tomorrow, so I'm busy revising. But this sure was a fun project! If you print a photo on a Zink someday, you should definately try a transfer and share it with us :)

oh sorry about that! When I hit "trash" it says I have to delete the whole thing from yours so nevermind...

I cant do any either...bogged by exams...*sigh*

I saw the normal printer one but normal printer uses ink...a fax machine just uses heat so you'd get the blue without any marks on it! (theoretically that is...)

I've peeled off some layers today as well :)
The top one came off very fast after soaking it in hot water and after that I peeled off the magenta layer. But I didn't manipulate it first, and I found it it's pretty hard to achieve any magenta on the peeled off layer.

Not worth uploading, but anyway, I think you should definately be one of the winners here! :)

good on you! Thanks for the comment. I sure hope so! Good luck to the both of us eh? If you still have some paper left I have a great iea I've been wanting to try...*read below*

I actually managed to peel off 2 layers successfully (the second one was in cold water for over an hour and became quite tough so it was easy to pull off)...Unfortunately there was nothing on it so its just a blank canvas.

Also, I've been meaning to try something but dont have the resources or the time as my next and last final exam is on Tuesday. If you're free I'd like to see what it would look like:

Since the zink paper reacts to heat, I was thinking of sticking it to fax paper and make a fax copy of something. If the heat is sufficient you should be able to make some pretty detailed drawings on the zink paper!

Yes the top layer is just coating, it's the one that comes easily off when it's wet and you rub it.

Nice peel ;)

Ok...I think there are 4 or 5 layers!

I left it in the water for over an hour and I managed to lift off the last layer!!!

Theres nothing on it...I believe each and every layer can be lifted off separately. The trick is to use hot water so it separates from the layers beneath, then take it out of the water to let it cool so the layer hardens. Then you can just use your fingers to peel it off!

Going to try again now..
