Ah don't be too hard on the uneducated fools!! ;)

I suppose most people's involvement with polaroiding only come from badly autofocussed 600 shots at parties.
So it's no surprise they don't know what the good cameras can do.

Yeah amalia always gets loads of speckles. i've hardly ever had any, but when i did it was from the same year as this... So maybe there's a lesson there.

I hope to find some more soon at a price i can afford!

^
i know, its ridiculous- i cant afford it at all at the minute but i figured if i was ever going to do it any more, it should be now as even films from 2001 can still work... if i try next year maybe that wont be the case, though maybe when all polaroid film is gone, everything will be expensive so people won't be able to charge as much for sx-70...who knows!

the funniest experience i have had recently with polaroid was at a funeral where i took a picture of some flowers and was holding it and someone about 8- years old asked me if the picture i was holding came from my phone! I said, no it's a polaroid, and they said 'oh they still have those? i thought you youngsters would be printing pictures from your phones these days". Humph is all i could say to that!

drama drama drama. i love the fine detail seeping through the speckly grain
^
thank you very much- i am pleasantly surprised that this level of detail came out- i showed this to someone who said "is that really a polaroid, i didn't think you could get detail on polaroids" i almost smacked them! ...i love those speckles, amaliachimera always has them and i am always jealous- maybe sx-70 has good and bad years for such things like vintage wine! thanks for the comment!

Fine work for your precious SX-70 film Rodeo! It is striking to see the ethereal colors behind the bold black iron work beams of this structure. I have long been attracted to industrial landscapes. The antithesis of an Ansel Adams Landscape.
Kind regards, David

^
thank you for that lovely comment- yes, nature a la ansel adams is so much better in black and white- i find that this blue is best on mixed subjects. I just love the colour more than anything- it a bit like just working with a different palette- no greys and blacks and white, instead cyan, yellow, and deep bluish purples...so i suppose it just makes you shoot differently. Different subjects, different films, you know? Although maybe if i lived near Yosemite perhaps I would shoot differently and take pictures of mountains and lakes and crevices!

Wow, this is stunningly beautiful!
What are those sructures? It reminds me a bit of Editors' An End Has A Start album cover -> »link

^
oh yes! i hadn't really looked at that album cover even though i actually have the album! well drugo's comments below seem to explian a lot better than i can- as far as i was concerned until earlier today, they were just some strange structures that had something to do with gas! ;) thanks for the kind words and link!

Uglly not all! I agrre with you, although living in such an ancient city like Rome, i love the few corner where those buildings tell us how the city is keeping alive and developing...
anyway, yours is a great work, as usual!

i've grown a bit of interest towards industrial archeology since i've spent the last years doing photos to abandoned factories of all kind :)
there are so many weird structures that you automatically start to ask yourself 'what was that for?'

^
i have the same thing- always wondering, but it looks like i am less good at finding out!!

Drugo
here in italy they're called 'gasometri'

i don't really know how to explain in english since it's a bit difficult, anyway they're used to modify the pressure of gas

The ones in the photo should be the kind that has an external 'empty' structure that works as a guide for a sort of mobile cylinder that is situated in the inside of the structure

This cylinder moves up and down as to follow the gas pressure.

When at night there's less need for gas, the cylinder moves up as to contain the extra gas; then, during the day when gas is needed the cylinder moves down and doing so it conveys the gas to the city

anyway great one!
i bet this will be the next sotd :)

^
thank you for that- i have wondered for ages what they are as they are right next to my house... interesting- i will look it up on a translator and see what the word is in english...

how do you know such things?

Thank you for the comment, very useful of you and i'm not sure about SotD but thanks for the thought!

i keep seeing these around, what are they for?
^
you know, i was hoping someone else could answer that- something to do with gas but i even tried googling it and no one else seems tio know either- they seem unnecessary as they just seem really tall but for what!? its not like they lead to anything!?
