Also on my list of irritating platitudes are all those theories where you can supposedly "think yourself" slim/ healthy/rich/immorta l - as if death was some kind of reprehensible attitude problem and happy people never put on weight and feeling down about a dead dog or a catastrophic camping holiday is the kind of mistaken behaviour that could give you leukemia and it will all be your own fault. Yo.
