Excellent. I shall follow in your footsteps a couple of weeks later. I'm not sure exactly when I'm going there yet or how long I'll stay for - just a long weekend, probably - but if I find your picture, I'll be sure to take a picture of myself holding it.

During our next hotel room shoot (mid-october), I will do just what you did. Only I will come back home a moment just to scan the picture that I will hide somewhere in the room. And leave it there...

I plan to do this at HÔTEL CHALGRIN, as depicted in Tickl-Mag # 2. The title of the picture I will leave in the room will probably be something like " HÔTEL CHALGRIN ROOM # ???", like I did in my private pix : "hôtel rotary room#4".

I (we) just love your ideas.

I must confess, I made two very similar versions of this pic at the same time. I didn't have a scanner in my luggage, obviously, so it seemed the only solution.

Chalgrin sounds like an ideal place. I'm thinking of staying there too at the end of October. I can search for it and see if it's still there, then put it back - or hide another one elsewhere! Ha, imagine if we can get half of Polanoid to stay in the same room and each hide their Polaroids in different nooks and crannies!

*hahaa* die ganze Idee ist klasse und die Umsetzung sowieso... hmmm, hatte mir noch nie überlegt wer VOR mir im Hotelzimmer war. Ach doch einmal: in London fand ich unterm Bett, mit Überwurf bis zum Boden, ein hellblaues Hemd mit Blutflecken drauf... *würg*... hab das zwei Tage lang versucht zu ignorieren...

Da denkt man einerseits "Yuk" und andererseits "Nanu, was den hier passiert?". Solch deutliche Spuren lassen einem einfach nicht in Ruhe. Man fühlt sich unfreiwillig mit Menschen intim, die das nicht mal mitkreigen, und die das andersrum nie erleben werden. Man will lieber gar nicht daran danken, aber das Geheimnis lockt einem immer wieder. Ach ja. Hotelzimmer. Ich liebe das.

I find the thought of those prior occupants fascinating - and yes, disturbing. All those bodily traces of people you have never seen. The intimacy of sharing a bed "serially" - though never simultaneously. Sleeping in the hollow in which they lay, picking up on their dreams.

If only it wasn't illegal to install spyware, eh? Puh. Legislative madness.

In the card I asked to the person finding the pin to take a photo wearing it and send it back to my email address
