By all means try the experiment. I find you can lure a fluttering swarm of these gentle creatures very easily with some decomposing innards, spat-out old chewing gum and a few simple dog turds. Perhaps if you heat them up, we can test the toe theory.

Right. This confirms all my preconceived opinions about butterflies. In a meadow full of pretty summer flowers, bobbing in the fragrant breeze, they'll always prefer to go and stick their curly tongues into the vilest piece of crap they can find.

^ exactly. although i guess the sand would be hot on their little toes and a small cigarette butt would be fluffy (its only the white filter part and not with the paper on) so i can imagine if i had butterfly toes i would probably quite like standing on this too...shall we go a field and put rubbish everywhere to catch butterflies?
