Many thanks . . . it's so easy to forget the world from the vantage of our too comfortable arrangements.

thank you 6bt. once again you have captured with your camera my life work and passions and preocupations better than i ever could. *vote*

Wow. I very much doubt that, but thanks for the vote of confidence. I just really feel this woman's horrible suffering should somehow relieve others'. This is why the photo was featured in the first place, I'm sure, but it's in the reuse and redistribution, exposure to the same image numerous times, that things tend to stick and voices finally heard. In other words, we just have to push push push and hope hope hope.

don't want to take up your picture comments box :-) but i completely agree with your reply - it is probably just that i am saddened that, what to me should be fundamental moral positions, have to pander to people who only act/vote based on personal gain.
terrific polaroid though that stimulates thought and discussion - bravo sir

thanks for the perspective reminder - ironically given lar's comment i think the one failing of the book you mention for me is that it shied away from tackling the political issues that are fundamental to a solution ...
^
You're right, though I don't view it as a failing. Rather, I think Brown understands that, if he frames things "economically," that is, in such a way that people understand the true costs (money, food, dwellings, et cetera), they are more prone to PAY ATTENTION. Brown works with governments, universities, think tanks, on larger, systemic fixes, but doesn't preach to that in his book. This is meant to be an eye opener - at least that's the way I took it.

word. Thanks for giving us some perspective sixblueten.

Thanks for paying attention, but see above comment. I don't want to preach so much as remind myself how lucky I am and how little I do to help others.
