Actually I take off my shoes during or even BEFORE coitus. Only for non penetrative forms of human courting rituals I leave them on. sometimes...
I suppose that makes me more enigmatic. Nobody can guess my intentions by the shoes I'm wearing - unless they see in my eyes an open invitation.....
