funny to read nikki's comment below - as i thought from the thumbnail it's from her.
i had a discussion recently with a friend about photobooth pictures and polaroid/polanoid. and as i said to him: certainly. it may not have been 'polaroid'. but it was instant (or at least, quite instant). those are the predecessors. they have the same aura.

^ this was instant photography, but i don't know how it worked. My mother was absolutly certain that she had to wait in front of the photobooth for the pics minutes after they were taken. No need to say that they are beautiful portraits, anyway. I've got some more I will upload soon...
