An excellent experiment - definitely a success!

Thank you. I'd like to try it on some other pictures, too, when I get the time.

I really like the texture around the upper part of your arm, makes me think of sunny, crispy things, like toasted sunflowers, if that makes sense as a concept. I prefer this one visually. Still the other one has a very naive feel, like a real 70s picture, maybe it's the dress or the pose. It reminds me of one of those old pictures of your mother where she looks so young you can't believe it's her.
^
I'm glad you actually like the crispy sunflower upper arm, because that was a desperate last attempt to conceal the one tiny flaw I made in the emulsion while working on the picture. I made a million delicate attempts to conceal it, and in the end, I had to go wild and paint that texture in. It reminds me of the speckled stains you get on an old mirror.

I know what you mean about the other one. There's something retro about the colours of it. But it's probably mainly the way the dress looks. It's based on the cuts of vintage 50s dresses, which is why it looks so authentic. (I started off ordering clothes like this for pictures, but now I've ended up wearing it all seriously.)

Out of the two, i like this one the most.

^
Well, it's the more unique one, technique-wise. But the poses turned out subtly different, too, and I find that this gives them a different feel as well. I look more capable and certain on the other one. I feel like I'm representing more of a wayward devil-may-care type: a sort of swashbuckling firebrand. On this one, I feel like there is more of a sense of duality, of being irrevocably torn between the goldfish bowl and the world beyond. This one seems open-ended to me, as if there was a life-changing choice to be made.

I like to make up stories for pictures afterwards.

Jay
top marks for effort.

Effort trumps conincidence then?

Egad, I wish I could have made a better scan of this.
