i tape them to glass and use thick bleach, which would be quite easy and fast (but still, this careful-where-to-eventually- drip and what-to-inhale), but i yet have to find a tape which is really waterproof. so i end up having to dry the picture from both sides, which is more time-consuming.
melamime foam is/are these 'dirt erasers', just check the wikipedia entry and you know. they are called different in various countries, so calling them by what they consist of is the most clear way.
clear. haha!

i bleached some negs again yesterday, but uh, it's sooo messy. i wished there was a way to protect the emulsion side before, so one could just hang them in baths and close the lid. like easy film developing/washing. maybe fix and harden before? i'm too lazy for chemical experiments at the moment :( might go back to melamine foam first.

Yes, I agree, it is a messy process. I've gotten a bit used to it at this point though. It takes me about 10 minutes to do a negative, and as long as I stay on top of them it isn't so bad. I've yet to try any hardeners, or anything else for that matter, other than water, and that is for effect. Melamine foam? I'm not aware of whatever that is.
