Wow did you nail this. SPOT ON. It is like you were actually there in the 1930's. Nothing about this looks modern at all. Even her features on her face are perfect and like that of those days when women looked prim and proper. I get a swift kick for not seeing this before. Truly gorgeous work.

That is the most wonderful compliment! Thank you! I spent ages pouring over old fashion books and going through millions of internet pages for the perfect hairstyle, etc all. The lighting was a bit of a struggle and this shot was taken when she was relaxed as we were setting up. The rest never looked quite right somehow...

I often dread clicking on the SoTD page to see what foggy fuzziness has been elevated to stardom but what joy today!

Ahh, my boy. You are too sweet. Lorna, the subject of this- hates this shot. I'll tell her that the people have spoken and she has been outvoted, literally

You were right - the B&W ones are even better than the colour ones!

This is my fave of the whole lot, I think. It really does look like a found photograph from the 1940s!

^
Yes this is my own personal fave and the one I ended up using...2nd shot of her I took and was "the one" ! Often the way... The black and white are just so much more authentic.

great job! so much of the time this stuff feels modern no matter how old the film or the styling, but this really feels like a great found photo. really nice.
^
Thank you very much- this pack of film was very kind to me overall, mostly the expired bits avoided her face, and all went down without a hitch... this model was amazing, one of my girlfriend's friends- she rocked up with her own hair stylist and make up artist! I couldn't believe my luck!! I then tried to style my own hair for the shoot (i shot myself too for this) and it was disasterous and spent a whole day depressed that my own picture was never going to look anywhere near as good as these! I am glad you think it looks like a found photo as that was the idea behind the project!
