i've been wanting to come back here to leave a message~
one of my roommates in college played bassoon. i miss the sound of it- even that sound that the keys make when pressed. this is a lovely picture- it's not easy to upstage such an instrument (almost a weapon), but your focus and her eyes do it!
^
what a wonderful message and observation (two).
for one, the sound indeed. i had an idea and vague memory of the instrument, but when she sat in my kitchen and played for me (and i needed that for an idea of how to make a photo of her and her bassoon, but that i wanted to do it, that was clear), i was overwhelmed. for the very same - the deep sound of it, together with the sounds of the clapping, the movements of this heavy instruments, and the breathing. all together a whole. and as well - nothing without the person, as it's so haptical. so it tried and went for that. with the focus on her eyes, the instrument big, but disappearing in the focus. and her fngers in focus at the same time.
it's a good feeling you made the connection.
i'd love to sense her blowing again soon. (she moved to south germany, to study it further. she went there just for the teacher. she's good.)

59, yes.
I have an education as a chemical-technical assistant.

2010-09-29 // 15:49:01 rommel Thanks g, yeah I modified a 110b with graflok back but the parallax frame, but mine is a bit wide on the infinity and off center with 10 feet, been looking on how to adjust the cam to fix it, just keeping a mental note to myself when using it.
There is so much to see on your stream, expect more geeky comments from me ;=)
BTW, polanoid.net is growing on me;=)

:-)
(and welcome)
2010-09-29 // 04:58:16 rommel lovely portrait g, looks almost like a daguerreotype,
BTW, i have never seen or used a litman 45, how accurate is the parallax frame on the viewfinder.

thanks. polaroid draw a comparison to albumen prints, btw.
it's spot on. it's a reliable tool, and to keep elsewhere long discussions short in this tiny box: you can tell it was made by a photographer.
it's made for 4x5 though, so one needs to keep in mind polaroid 4x5 sheets are off-center and a little bit more narrow on the wide side (as with any LF camera). By feeling, i would say this comes more in play when using the ground glass, but it could also be just due to the fact that, when using the groundglass, one usually deals with more difficult alignments anyway.

and it sounds wonderful. I love it, when you can feel the tones as well. it's mostly part of an orchestra only. which is kind of unfortunate, as it's wonderful on it's own.
