Well...looking from a pragmatic view...the best device so far is the human instrurment. It has the ability to capture and store what the 5+ senses has recorded.
From a technological view point...there's been a myriad of ideas thru the centuries.
Remember: scratch&sniff cards, experimental movies made with vapor machines, sonar, vibrating sand on a drum and many more esoteric approaches.
I bet...dimes to donuts...you have a list longer than your arm of such ideas :-)
These are just fun ideas for future projects.
Take Care my friend and embrace the day!

Hay...Nice to hear from you my friend!
This image was a rather quick grab shot. I wasn't to sure of the results. It does seem to have captured a freeze frame of motion.
Because of the contaminated roller spots...I didn't show the girls the image until later that evening...only after a few drinks and in a dimly lit saloon.
Thank you for your cool comment and peeking in.

I wish I had a camera that made images of sounds...hmmm (a project to ponder on)!

Oh! I just remembered that there's an old restored hotel (Gold Hill hotel) on the way to Virgina City thats supposed to be haunted. I've stopped in over the years to have a beer or dinner, but haven't stayed the night yet! I did take a quick look see up stairs (with no camera) to try to catch some vibs (interesting). The haunts weren't active then.
One of these nights (make it a dark and stormy night with a lotta film and recorder).

Thanks Penny! Your right...I hadn't looked at this image in decades (freeze frame of time). It was kinda like a movie on that roadtrip. Spending a few days on the haunted Queen Mary...very spooky in the less visited spots on the ship (sounds of splashing water and distant voices in a old empty swimming pool).
