On a number of occasions your pictures have sent me running to the bookshelf, and I pluck this or that cherished book and dig up a beloved passage. This happens a lot. Your pictures are like garden digging tools, and they help magically unearth passages from my favorite books that have been buried for a long time in my head.

This portrait makes me think immediately of one of my favorite pieces of children's literature: An Episode of Sparrows, by Rumer Godden. I am also reminded a bit of plucky Sophia from The Summer Book, by Tove Jansson.
