once in SF
i was at a public park
walking in some rose garden

i was struck by this pale purple rose
just staring
and an old woman leaned over my shoulder and said,
"you must smell it."

and so i did
it was the first rose i ever loved the scent of
i wish i knew its name!

but i won't forget its fragrance
they say our sense of smell
is our strongest memory trigger
i believe it
i know it
